Dr. V.Sankar, Professor in EEE, has 32 years of experience in teaching and 26 years in research. He did B.Tech. in EEE (1973, JNTUCEA), M.Tech. in Power Systems (1980, JNTUCEK) and Ph.D. in Power Systems Reliability from I.I.T. Delhi. He has been honoured with State Award as the Best Teacher, from Government A.P., for the year 2010, Gaurav Award for outstanding service achievements and contributions in the year 2011 and with a life time achievement award “Rayalaseema Vidhya Rathna” from Swami Art Creations, Proddatur in the year 2012. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Referee of an International Journal “IEEE Transactions on Reliability”. He is Elected as Fellow of Institute of Engineers (India), Life Member of ISTE, ISPE, SSI, member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG) and member of Academic Senate of Krishna University, Machilipatnam and Executive Member of AP Knowledge Mission. He has served as Head (Dept. of EEE), Vice-Principal and Principal of JNTUACE, Anantapur; Director of Academic & Planning, JNTUA; Registrar, JNTUA. He is presently Nodal Officer for JNTUA-NBA Nodal Centre; Coordinator of Student Activities of IEEE, Ananthapuramu Zone and Chief Coordinator of Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Mumbai – JNTUA.
He produced 7 Ph.Ds and presently supervising 5 Ph.D candidates. He has 77 Research publications in International/National Journals and Conferences. He authored a book titled “System Reliability Concepts”, published by Himalaya Publishers and also co-authored a book titled “Electric Power Distribution and Automation”, published by Dhanpat Rai & Sons, Delhi. He has completed AICTE, TAPTEC project on “Reliability studies and Testing”. He has organized several workshops and short term courses for the benefit of working Engineers and Teachers. He has delivered invited lecturers on various topics and chaired technical sessions at several International and National Conferences.
